Bracklinn Falls Footbridge

The design by BEAM Architects and CAKE Industries for a bridge across the Keltie Water at the spectacular Bracklinn Falls in the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park was selected by Scottish National Parks from a competitive design-build process. The remote rural location, with severely restricted access, required a modular design solution and erection using limited plant. The distinctive weathering-steel walk-through structure comprises perforated steel edge girders and FRP deck plates. Larger perforations at the centre provide a ‘dog and child window’ at centre span. The bridge is designed for a long service life in a hostile environment and is the third crossing on the same site within the space of two decades, the previous structures succumbing to flood and rot respectively. Completed February 2023.
